Ingredients

Danish Pastry
  • 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
Cream Cheese Filling
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg divided
Strawberry Topping
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries sliced
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar for macerating
Egg Wash
  • 1 large egg beaten

Method

Prepare the Filling
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and one egg yolk. Mix until smooth and creamy.
Prepare the Strawberries
  1. In a separate bowl, toss the sliced strawberries with granulated sugar and let them sit for about 10 minutes to release their juices.
Assemble the Danish
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut into squares.
  2. Place a spoonful of the cream cheese filling in the center of each pastry square, then top with a few slices of macerated strawberries.
  3. Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling to create a diamond shape and pinch to seal.
  4. Brush the tops with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
Bake
  1. Place the pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve
  1. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your Strawberry Danish with Cream Cheese!
