Prepare the Shrimp
- In a mixing bowl, combine the buttermilk and shrimp. Let it marinate for 15 minutes.
Make the Batter
- In another bowl, mix together the flour, cornmeal, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
Heat the Oil
- In a deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
Fry the Shrimp
- Remove the shrimp from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge the shrimp in the batter mixture until well coated.
- Carefully place the coated shrimp in the hot oil, frying in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
- Use tongs to remove the shrimp and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Serve
- Serve the fried shrimp hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
