Shrimp
  • 1 pound large shrimp peeled and deveined
Batter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup buttermilk
Oil
  • 4 cups vegetable oil for frying

Method

Prepare the Shrimp
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the buttermilk and shrimp. Let it marinate for 15 minutes.
Make the Batter
  1. In another bowl, mix together the flour, cornmeal, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
Heat the Oil
  1. In a deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
