Method
Prepare the Cake
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool completely in the pan.
Prepare the Frosting
- In a mixing bowl, beat the chilled heavy cream with an electric mixer until soft peaks form.
- Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, and continue to beat until stiff peaks form.
Assemble the Cake
- Once the cake is cool, spread the whipped frosting evenly over the top.
- Arrange the sliced strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries on top to create a flag design.
- Slice and serve the cake.
