  • 2 lbs Russet or Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp butter, plus more for greasing the dish
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs mixed with 2 tbsp melted butter (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish, drizzle with half of the cream mixture, and sprinkle with half of the cheddar cheese. Repeat layers.
  4. Top with buttery breadcrumbs and additional cheese if desired.
  5. Bake for 45 minutes until bubbly and golden brown on top.
