- 1 cup glutinous rice
- 1 cup full-fat coconut milk
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ tsp salt
- 2 ripe mangoes, sliced
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds or mung beans (for garnish)
Instructions
- Rinse glutinous rice until the water runs clear, then soak in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Drain the soaked rice and steam it in a bamboo steamer lined with cheesecloth for about 30 minutes until tender.
- While the rice is steaming, combine coconut milk, sugar, and salt in a saucepan over low heat until the sugar dissolves.
- Once the rice is done steaming, transfer it to a bowl and pour three-quarters of the coconut sauce over it. Gently fold to combine.
- Cover and let sit for 30 minutes to meld flavors.
- Serve with sliced mangoes on the side, drizzled with remaining coconut sauce, and sprinkle with sesame seeds or mung beans.
