  • 2 lbs sweet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together heavy cream, melted butter, garlic powder, nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
  3. Layer half of the sweet potato slices in the baking dish; pour half of the cream mixture over them. Repeat with remaining potatoes and cream.
  4. Top with shredded cheddar cheese and panko breadcrumbs. Drizzle with additional melted butter if desired.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove foil and continue baking for an additional 20 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Let sit for 10 minutes before serving.
