- 3/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)

Instructions
- 1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- 2. In a bowl, mix flour, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking soda, and salt.
- 3. In another bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Add molasses and egg; mix until combined.
- 4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until fully incorporated.
- 5. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for at least one hour.
- 6. Roll out the chilled dough to about 1/4 inch thick and cut into desired shapes using cookie cutters.
- 7. Place cutouts on greased baking sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are just set.
- 8. Allow cookies to cool before decorating with icing or glaze.
