  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the vanilla extract, egg, and egg yolk; mix until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually incorporate into the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thick and cut into heart shapes using a cookie cutter. Place on prepared baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden but centers remain soft. Cool slightly before serving.
