  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and mix in vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually combine dry ingredients with wet ingredients, alternating with milk until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter into two bowls; mix extra cocoa powder into one for swirling.
  6. Spoon dollops of each batter into liners and bake for about 20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool completely before adding the filling.
  7. Whip heavy cream and fold in melted chocolate chips for the filling. Fill cooled cupcakes with the creamy mixture.
