  • 2 tsp red gel food coloring
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
  3. In another bowl, mix sugar and vegetable oil until combined. Add eggs one at a time, then stir in red food coloring and vanilla.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined; do not overmix.
  5. Chill dough for about an hour in the refrigerator.
  6. Roll tablespoon-sized portions of dough into balls and coat generously in powdered sugar. Place on prepared sheets about two inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10 minutes or until slightly set but still soft in the center. Allow to cool slightly before transferring to plates.
