Description

Grandma’s Classic Thanksgiving Stuffing is a heartwarming dish that unites the nostalgic flavors of stale bread, fresh herbs, and sautéed vegetables. This comforting stuffing pairs perfectly with your holiday turkey, creating cherished memories around the dinner table. Easy to prepare and bursting with flavor, it’s destined to become a staple in your Thanksgiving celebration.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 cups stale bread cubes
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup celery, chopped
  • 2 cups low-sodium vegetable broth
  • 2 tsp dried sage
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C). Cut stale bread into cubes or toast fresh slices until dry.
  2. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Sauté onions and celery until soft, about 5 minutes.
  3. In a large bowl, combine bread cubes, sautéed vegetables, sage, thyme, pepper, and enough vegetable broth to moisten but not soak the mixture.
  4. Transfer to a greased baking dish. Cover loosely with foil and bake for 30 minutes at 350°F (175°C).
  5. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving alongside turkey or as a standalone dish.
