- 1 cup active sourdough starter (240g)
- 1 cup warm water (240ml)
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar (50g)
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (90g)
Instructions
- Feed your sourdough starter at least four hours before baking to ensure it’s bubbly.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, salt, and brown sugar.
- Mix warm water with the active sourdough starter until smooth, then add it to the dry ingredients.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about ten minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for four hours or until doubled in size.
- Deflate the dough gently, fold in chocolate chips, shape into a loaf, and place in a prepared pan to rise for another two hours.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
