  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ⅓ cup baking soda
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Coarse sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm water and sugar in a bowl. Stir in yeast and let sit until foamy (about 5 minutes).
  2. Gradually mix in salt and flour until a dough forms. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  3. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, approximately 1 hour.
  4. Preheat oven to 425°F. Punch down the dough and divide into eight pieces. Roll into ropes and shape into pretzels.
  5. Boil water mixed with baking soda; dip each pretzel for about 30 seconds on each side.
  6. Place on lined baking sheets, brush with melted butter, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and coarse sea salt, then bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
