Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter (for the sauce)
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour (for the sauce)
  • 2 cups low-sodium beef broth (for the sauce)
  • ½ cup sour cream (for the sauce)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Sauté chopped onion in a skillet until translucent.
  2. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, ground pork, sautéed onions, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, eggs, salt, and pepper until just combined.
  3. Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat; cook meatballs until browned on all sides (about 5 minutes).
  5. For the sauce, melt butter in another pan. Whisk in flour until golden brown. Gradually add beef broth while stirring until smooth; stir in sour cream.
  6. Add browned meatballs to the sauce and simmer for about 10 minutes. Serve with mashed potatoes or lingonberry jam.
